A sub-inspector is the lower-ranked policeman who can file a blotter in court and sometimes acts as a primary investigating officer. SI has the facility to research all cases under the jurisdiction of his police headquarters . However, he doesn't involve the investigating process of the cases that are assigned to senior cops like DSP or CID. He acts as a bridge between the superior cops and constabulary below him.
The minimum regulation is 21 -25 years and therefore the maximum regulation varies from post to post.
Candidates should possess a Degree awarded by any University in India, established or incorporated by or under a Central Act, Provisional Act of State, or of any institution recognized by the University or any other equivalent qualification. In the case of a candidate belonging to SC or ST, he/she must have passed Intermediate or any other examination recognized by the State Government as being equivalent to Intermediate and should have studied a 3 years Degree course.
